Philomena Runs Off the Fashion Runway
Philomena the Pampas Grass, one the main characters in our Fall Fashion Show story, helps others identify their true self and light. We all have a gift inside of us and sometimes it takes a little time and work to bring it out. Not only was Philomena kind and encouraging to her friends but she could see true beauty in all things. For this art project show us your best Philomena.

What would it look like to have this larger than life gorgeous Pampas Grass sitting next to you right now? What do you think she’d say? You can make a Philomena like we did using decorative feather fronds like those growing on a real Pampas Grass, some sort of fashionable grass skirt and create your own fun eyes or eye lashes. We used super big google eyes and also made some eyelashes out of construction paper.
You can dress her up in jewels and fancy accessories if you’d like. Make any character from the story you like this way. It’s also a great time to hang some pretend cobwebs on your outside bushes like Winnie the Wintergreen Boxwood shrub. Dress them up any way you’d like with your own unique splash of style.
Another fun project might be to further investigate this crazy nature magic trick called chlorophyll. Find a leaf on a tree and observe it as it changes color with the season as it’s chlorophyll disappears. You can sketch and color your own version of a changing leaf with paints, crayons and markers. Can you add or take away colors as it changes and record the final result. Remember from the story that some of the most stunning changes started near Crimson’s edges and veins.
